I am always amazed when I see women wearing high heels...

How could you possibly put those things on, feel uncomfortable yet still walk around in them all day!

Well,
the dangers of wearing "bad" shoes or shoes that just don't fit your
foot well is real. And guys, before you say this doesn't apply to me,
it does...

High heels aren't the only types of shoes I'd
classify as "bad"... many mens dress shoes are almost as horrible when
it comes to what they do to feet.

As humans we tend to take our
feet for granted and seriously neglect them. Your feet are critical to
good biomechanics and overall health and fitness.

Think about
it... your feet serve as the foundation for your body and even the
slightest problem in the foot can throw your entire body out of whack.

We
received many emails and letters from customers who have followed our
advice and ditched the heels and dress shoes and that alone resulted in
huge reductions in pain.

So whether you are a woman who feels
pressured to wear high heels or a man who has to wear "dress" shoes, I
urge you to think about how you are treating and caring for your
feet... and find a better pair of shoes.

First off, they have to
support and fit your foot well... they shouldn't force your foot to fit
the shoes, it's got to be the other way around!

Second, they
need to feel comfortable. If your feet feel tired after wearing them
for just a few minutes, they are probably not a great choice.

And
last, forget "fashion"! Who cares what the thing looks like if it's not
comfortable or worse, it's ruining your feet. And whoever said high
heels looked good any way - I think they look stupid!

But worse is what they do to the feet of women who wear them... take a look at these pictures:

So does that make you want to wear some high heels? disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.

Each year,
one million people suffer from a heart attack; and half of them die.

At least 600,000 Americans have a stroke, which is the third leading
cause of death.

Aggressive
attempts have been made throughout the years to prevent and treat cardiovascular
disease, including the daily use of aspirin.

Aspirin therapy helps prevent
blood platelets from sticking together and forming clots.

This, in turn,
keeps blood thin and flowing more smoothly, thus lowering the risk of
heart attacks and strokes. (Both are usually the result of a clot lodging
in a narrowed artery and choking off the tissue's blood supply.)

But
there is a gray cloud inside this silver lining. Although aspirin appears
as a simple over-the-counter treatment, it is in fact a drug that produces
side effects-many of which can be severe.

Long-term aspirin use has
been linked to cataracts, macular degeneration, kidney damage and peptic
ulcers. Aspirin irritates and erodes the stomach lining and often leads
to gastrointestinal bleeding. The chance of bleeding is even higher
when aspirin is used in combination with other anti-inflammatory drugs.

In
addition, aspirin therapy can cause bleeding in the brain, especially
in elderly folks. Healthy people taking aspirin as a preventative measure
to ward off stokes can also develop bleeding. Supposedly the occurrence
is rare; nonetheless, the risk is still there.

As
if that isn't bad enough, research is now showing that many people
are resistant to aspirin. That is, aspirin does nothing to protect them
from heart attacks and strokes.

In fact, taking aspirin makes them more
susceptible to both conditions. Apparently, the clotting ability of
their blood is strong enough to prevent aspirin from doing its job.
This action makes their situation worse and increases the likelihood
of having a heart attack or stroke.

Some
researchers suggest that any where from 20 to 49 percent of the population
is aspirin-resistant. A recent analysis of 2,367 people found that 26
percent were resistant to the effects of aspirin.

Of these individuals,
33 percent suffered a heart attack, stroke or other health problem.
Although it is not completely understood, resistance may be higher in
men, diabetics, smokers, and those who have high blood pressure.

Unfortunately,
many doctors continue to prescribe aspirin on a routine basis to their
patients. As is often the case in our society, medication is thought
to be the solution for all of our ills. Because every drug has side
effects, they should be used very cautiously.

Also,
one of the most effective blood thinners are proteolytic enzymes. Not
only do they thin the blood naturally, but they also cleanse the blood
of toxins, kill viruses and bacteria, eat away at excess fibrin (scar
tissue) and reduce inflammation and pain.

You can learn more about proteolytic enzymes here.

Often times, there are
other, safer ways of preventing disease or getting one's health back.
For example, exercising, eating right, and controlling stress greatly
reduce the risk of heart disease.

Several
studies have found that garlic as well as fish oil lowers cholesterol
and thins the blood, protecting against clots. Antioxidants found naturally
in fruits and vegetables help prevent everything from cancer to heart
attacks.

Bromelain,
a natural enzyme in pineapple, acts as an anti-inflammatory and also
keeps plaques from developing in artery walls. Bromelain is just one of
the 11 proven pain relievers that are found in "Heal-n-Soothe". You can

small amounts of chocolate has even been associated with reducing heart
disease risk. Research shows that cocoa beans contain natural plant
chemicals that are good for blood flow.

However, milk chocolate contains
considerably fewer of these chemicals, compared to dark chocolate. It
contains a lot of added sugar as well. So look for bars with a minimum
of 60 percent cocoa and not too much added sugar. Chocolate, of course,
is high in calories, so go easy on your consumption.

While taking
aspirin regularly may be beneficial for some people, it is not without
risk. And in many cases, aspirin may do more harm than good.

All drugs
have side effects, including over-the-counter medications, so their
use should be carefully considered.

Healthy lifestyle habits and other
natural remedies need be taken into account as alternatives to drugs
whenever possible.

So, dump the aspirin and use the safer and proven alternatives.

Talk to you again soon...

Jesse Cannone, CFT, CPRS, MFT
P.S.

about how certain types of foods can actually create inflammation in

And another article about how you can speed up your metabolism with simple little changes and tricks - and without exercise.

Is What You’re Eating Keeping You In Pain?

When I say
the word “inflammation,” it’s likely to evoke thoughts of painful
joints and muscles, swelling, and a loss of mobility.

But did
you know that recent research shows that chronic inflammation in your
body can lead to serious diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, some
cancers, and Alzheimer’s disease, to name just a few?

The amount
of inflammation in your body varies and is dependent on a number of
factors - including your activity level, the amount of sleep you get,
the degree of stress in your life, and even the foods you eat.

What you
have to realize is that these factors are cumulative - meaning they
build up over time. And the more that any or all of these factors get
out of whack, the risk for disease increases.

Weight
loss is a billion-dollar industry because everyone is looking for the
quick fix when it comes to losing weight. Everyone wants to burn body
fat yet few people understand how the human body uses fat for fuel!

Stored
body fat is the last thing your body will use as fuel. The whole reason
we store extra calories (that can come from anything) is to have a back
up or reserve.

The only
way body fat can be effectively used as fuel Is If blood sugar is
stable, and the body is using more fuel than is being supplied! This is
what keeps most people from burning fat.

I
just read a good article in Men's Health magazine, which I typically
don't read but I had some time while waiting for a haircut. Anyway, the
article was titled "8 Drugs Even Your Doctor Won't Take".

I've
been urging people to avoid taking prescription or over the counter
drugs at all costs because the risks are so high... and there are so
many safer alternatives, many of which have proven to be just as
effective (even more effective in some cases).

To save you the time and effort, here's their list of drugs to avoid:

1. Advair (asthma)
2. Avandia (diabetes)
3. Celebrex (anti-inflammatory)
4. Ketek (anti-biotic)
5. Prilosec / Nexium (heartburn)
6. Visine (eye drops)
7. Pseudoephedrine (decongestant)

It seems the people over at Men's Health can't count because the list only has 7 - not 8

Anyway,
the reason I wanted to talk about this is because so many people we
talk to are still taking Celebrex... even though the FDA has warned
about how dangerous it can be. And if the FDA says it's dangerous, you
know it has got to be really bad because it takes a lot of deaths
before they'll cut into the drug companies profits.

So what can you do to safely deal with the pain? Here are 8 (yes actually 8) things that you should consider:

1. Topical pain relief cream

A great way to get fast, almost instant relief from the symptom (pain) but you still have to deal with the underlying issues.

- Hide quoted text -

We
make a great product called Rub on Relief that has been clinically
proven in 4 different studies to not only be effective, but over 80% of
the people in the study said it delivered better pain relief than many
brand name prescription and over the counter medicines.

You can learn more about it and why it works so well here.

2. Proteolytic enzymes

A
very powerful anit-inflammatory yet very few people are aware of it
here in the US. It's been used for about 50 years now in Europe and
Asia to treat everything from asthma, arthritis, allergies, cancer,
herpes/shingles, hepatitis, muscle soreness, multiple sclerosis and
many others.

Extensive research has been done proving their effectiveness and you learn more about proteolytic enzymes here.

3. Acupuncture

This
ancient treatment can work wonders and while it may not work for
everyone, one thing we have discovered is the application of the
treatments can vary widely from physician to physician... and some
people report no benefit when receiving treatment from one doctor but
then report great results when receiving treatment from another.

You can find an acupuncturist in your area here.

4. Trigger point therapy

We've all got em and they can cause serious muscle spasms, chronic pain and stiffness and exacerbate muscle imbalances.

The
good news is you can identify and treat most, if not all of them on
your own at home (or at work).... and with just a few minutes you can
see dramatic improvement. If you haven't already started using trigger
point therapy you definitely need to give a try and you can learn more about it here.

5. Muscle balance therapy

Probably
the most important because when you identify and address your
imbalances you eliminate much, if not all of the underlying cause of
the pain.

And
while it does take some time to improve your imbalances, many people do
find that just one or two corrective exercises or stretches gives them
instant relief - but the key here is knowing which exact ones you need
to do.

If you were to do only one thing on this list, this is the one it should be. Be sure to read our article on muscle balance therapy here.

6. Mind body therapies

There
are many "mind-body" therapies available and they all seem to work for
some people so if there's any that you haven't tried, you should
definitely look into them. You can find a basic overview of mind body therapies here.

And you can find the one mind-body / hypnosis program we recommend here.

7. Energy healing

This
is something I've been studying a lot as of late and am very excited
about. It falls into the above "mind-body" category but is something I
wanted to write briefly about today.

Since
I wouldn't be able to give you a good explanation in such a short space
here I encourage you to get and read the book "The Touch of Healing" by
Mary Burmeister. You can find it on Amazon or Here..

And you can also find a qualified practitioner in your area here.

I'll be writing more about my experience with energy healing very soon.

8. Far Infrared heat

Used
for over 3000 years now, Far Infrared heat has been used to treat all
sorts of health conditions and has proven very effective at treating
muscle and joint related conditions.

More and more research is being done on it right now and specifically in the treatment of various types of back pain. You can learn more about far infrared heat therapy here.

And these are just some of the MANY things you can do instead of risk your health on dangerous drugs.

Remember,
the more things you try the sooner you'll find the combination that
works best for you... and the sooner you try them the sooner you get
your life back.

So get started now and please share your experience with us and others by posting on our discussion forum.

That's all for today.
I've got 2 great articles for you today that I'm sure you are going to find very
interesting and hopefully also very helpful.

First, did you know that chronic pain shrinks the brain?

Yep, it's true and that's what the first article is about. And I don't know about
you, but I can't afford any loss of brain

And the second article talks about how you can use nutrition to help eliminate
your pain - or keep it, depending upon the choices you make.

But before we jump into these articles I wanted let you know that we just released
a brand new product called "The Fibromyalgia Fix" and you can check it out here:
http://www.losethebackpain.com/fibromyalgiafix.html

And right now you can grab a free copy of the book "Why We Hurt" by Dr. Greg Fors
when you purchase "The Fibromyalgia Fix" so if you or anyone you know sufferers
from fibromyalgia you (or they) have got to get your hands on this new program.

Ok, so now let's dig into the articles I was telling you about...

------------------------------
----------------------
Chronic Back Pain Limits Brain Power
----------------------------------------------------

You don't need to be a scientist to know that chronic back pain can have a negative
impact on your life, often bringing with it anxiety and depression. It can affect your
ability to work, sleep, and perform other daily activities.

Until recently, it has been assumed that whatever changes occurred in the brain as
a result of chronic back pain were only temporary and that the brain would revert to
a normal state once the pain stopped.

Recent findings by researchers from Northwestern University have turned this
assumption on its head. What they found was that chronic back pain - defined as
pain lasting six months or longer - can cause significant and long-lasting damage
to the brain, aging it up to 20 times faster than normal.

In fact, chronic back pain actually shrinks the gray matter of the brain - the part
responsible for memory and information processing - by as much as 11 percent each
year. In contrast, normal aging of the brain results in just a 0.5 percent loss of gray
matter a year.

Get the rest of this story here:
http://www.losethebackpain.com/backpainandthebrain.html

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can Proper Nutrition and Supplementation Eliminate Your Pain?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone looking to achieve optimal health has to consider nutrition as the single most
important ingredient for success. In a perfect world, all of our nutrition should come
from the food we eat. Supplementation should not even be an issue.

In the real world, however, most of the foods we eat are riddled with fertilizers,
herbicides, pesticides, and hormones - not to mention that they are often hydrated
with polluted water. In addition, an ever-growing percentage of our food comes from
other countries, which don't always have the best inspection track record.

And if all that weren't bad enough, the natural nutrient value of the soil that produces
these foods has also been diminishing over the years, a trend that will only continue.
This is why it's necessary for us to take a hard look at our diets and make a decision
about whether we may need supplements.

As you can see, proper nutrition nowadays is not that easy; it does take some time to
educate yourself. By proper nutrition, I mean eating clean and safe foods that have
the nutrients your body requires to get and stay healthy.
Recipe for relief

Your two main purposes for eating a healthy diet and taking supplements are to give
your body what it needs to heal itself and to minimize the level of inflammation that is
in your body. The inflammation is what is causing your pain.

Drugs that fight pain do little, if anything, to help the body heal itself. In fact, some of
these drugs can have severe negative side effects, so please consider eating right as
an alternative.

If you are suffering from any type of back, neck or sciatic pain, I have a recipe for relief.
The book is 400 pages and it covers every thing relating to chronic pain... It is indeed the complete physical and Spiritual guide to healing your chronic pain...

The Audio is 100 minutes long, its 2 CDs, I did the interview with Dr
Fors, he blow me way with what he has discovered and his approach
starts at the cellular level it does not get any more Root Cause that
that...

_______________________________________
Here is a quote from Dr Fors

"I was once so severely disabled with chronic low-back pain that I
had to leave clinical practice for a time. Even though I had access to
some of the best resources in natural and conventional medicine, I
spent much of my time in agony, flat on my back. I eventually realized
that it was up to me to discover the underlying cause of my own chronic
pain.

"This became even more evident and poignant when my daughter was
overcome with the pain and fatigue of fibromyalgia. At one point, the
pain in her legs and back became so severe that she had to crawl up the
stairs to her bedroom. Watching her suffer drove me back into academia
to begin a three-year program to become a board-certified neurologist.

"Building upon my years of clinical experience, this process of intense
study revealed to me the underlying cause of chronic pain and its
effective treatment. And I witnessed the courage of a true warrior when
I saw my own daughter apply what I’d discovered to fight and conquer
her fibromyalgia.

"Through all of this I was able to effect dramatic changes in my own
experience with chronic pain. Additionally my daughter was able to heal
her fibromyalgia and she is now a vibrant, active young woman, working
and going to college.

"Through this very personal journey with chronic pain disorders, I have
come to a deep appreciation of the suffering it causes and the
importance of effective natural treatment to properly address its
various causes."

Dr. Greg Fors

If you’ve ever suffered from intense pain in the neck, shoulder or upper back
you know that it can make getting through the day extremely difficult because
there are so many things we do that require our arms and head.

I know exactly what it’s like as I’ve had my fair share of injuries, including
shoulder problems brought on by weight lifting as well as a month long stiff
neck caused by a nasty mountain bike accident.

So I know a thing or two about how to deal with and eliminate these aches
and pains. Plus, over the past 5 years, here at the Healthy Back Institute
we’ve helped thousands of people overcome neck, shoulder and upper
back pain.

Here’s what we’ve found to work the best:

1. If brought on by an accident, as quickly as possible take Arnica.

Arnica is a homeopathic remedy that works very well when taken right after
injury and they even make small viles of pellets you can keep on you. I now
keep some in my car and also in my mountain biking pack.

2. Reduce the inflammation as quickly as possible.

There are many things you can do to reduce the inflammation. You can use
ice for the first 24-48 hours. Elevate the limb or injured part of the body.

You can also use a natural anti-inflammatory like Lifezyme Plus.
Provided there’s no open wound you can also use a topical pain relieving cream

3. Eliminate muscle spasms and relieve tight, stiff muscles

Muscles in spasms can wreak havoc on your body and what many people
don’t realize is your muscles can be a in a state of “semi” spasms.. meaning
the spasm isn’t intense enough for you to notice but while mild it can still pull
your body out alignment and cause other problems.

One way to address this is trigger point therapy which can be administered
by a trained therapist and much of it you can even do yourself.

4. Ensure your mindset is programmed for recovery

Believe it or not, your mind… how you think, what you feel, etc all plays a
MAJOR role in your ability to heal and recover. And if you don’t believe it,
I challenge you to do some research and see what you discover. Start by
reading this special report on the subject.

But in the meantime, just remember that you must tell yourself that you
WILL overcome this and you must believe it.

5. Identify and address your muscle imbalances

Whether your pain was caused by an accident or not, you have imbalances…
we all do and the worse they are the more likely they are to create conditions
and cause pain.

If you haven’t already identified your imbalances using our best-selling
Lose The Back Pain system you really need to. You can’ expect to get lasting
relief if you don’t uncover and address the underlying cause.

And before you try to say “my condition was caused by ______” let me remind
you that regardless of what you may have been diagnosed with and what you
have been told, or what you believe caused it, I can promise you that muscle
imbalances ARE a factor…

In fact, I’m willing to bet that they are a BIGGER factor than you may think and
that once you start to address them you WILL start to see improvements…

And often times people see improvements in so many other areas in addition
to the “condition or pain” that got them started in the first place.

Well, I wish you the best and hope that you will take action and continue to
learn and experiment.

If you ever have questions please post them in our discussion forum.

It's a question I get dozens, if not hundreds of times each and every day:

I've tried everything but am still in extreme pain, what can I do?

Well, I've got good and bad news for you...

First, let's start with the GOOD news.

The
good news is I've not met or talked to a person yet who has tried every
treatment known to man... so while you may have tried lots of different
things, I'm willing to bet there are treatments (and treatment
combinations) that you have NOT yet tried.

But even more
important is the fact that the more things you've tried the closer you
likely are to finding the one thing (or more likely, combination of
things) that will work for you and finally give you your life back.

People
view failure as a bad thing when instead you need to look at it as an
experiment... and know that the faster you try things the sooner you
achieve success.

But now for the BAD news...

The
bad news (or more appropriately, sad news) is, most people don't view
themselves as powerful and successful beings and they give up. So let
me ask you this extremely important question...

Are you going to win the war against your pain or is it going to beat the life out of you?

Seems
like a silly question I know... but far too many people lose this
battle and end up living the rest of their life miserable and in pain...

And
what really drives me nuts is it does NOT have to be like this! There
are so many things you can do that WILL improve things for you yet
every day I get emails from people who have already given up. I can
usually tell after reading just the first sentence or two.

Well, I want to share a story with you that I know you will find truly inspiring... read this:

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Vira B <virab@email.comt>
Date: Apr 20, 2008 12:08 AM
Subject: Re: did you get my email?
To: Jesse <jesse@losethebackpain.com>

Dear Jesse:

There
appears to be some confusion at your end. I bought the program and
admit that it was the best $110.00 bucks I had spent in my life. My
pain was so incredible that I found myself lying on the floor curled up in a ball wishing I could die and get it over with.

Years
of physio. (all wrong) chiro, massage, cranio, and the list goes on
with thousands of dollors flying out of my pocket, with no end in
sight I really had given up on life. Yes, yes, I even had surgery.
But God just didn't want me yet as I was directed to your website.

I bought your program, tried it and in just one day, (yes, one day) my pain stopped. I told my physiotherapists, they should learn something and buy your program.

I
told my Doctor about it and suggested that she send her patients to
your websight. She agreed to check it out for herself. I tell
everyone about you two and what a common sense program you have that
works.

I have to thank for your business smarts and for taking
the time and energy to put your fabulous program together. It's
because of you that I have a chance at life again. Many many thanks.

Best regards

Vira B
Calgary, AB
---------------------

Thanks
so much Vira for sharing your story. And it's YOU who won this battle,
not me... all I did was supply you with information that you needed but
didn't have and I'm happy just to be a small part of your success.

While
not everyone gets such incredible and immediate results, I'm glad you
did. And I want to point out that the main reason you are feeling
better now is because you never gave up...

You
kept searching and trying things until you found the solution and
that's THE key to success in all aspects of life whether it's
overcoming chronic pain, losing weight or having a successful
relationship.

Another thing I want to say is, while I'm glad you
told your therapists don't be surprised if they poo-poo the system and
try to dismiss your success as a "coincidence"... it happens all the
time and it's because most people, especially doctors and the like,
tend to think they know it all... and accepting the results that you
and tens of thousands of others have using our system would mean they'd
have to admit that they don't know it all.

It doesn't matter how
dramatic the results were... it doesn't matter that you had surgery and
tried physical therapy, massage, chiropractic and all the other
treatments but none of it worked. Some people just can't seem to admit
that they don't know it all.

I learned a long time ago that I
don't know it all... far, far from it. In fact, every day I am amazed
by how much I'm learning all the time. I hope that you to keep an open
mind and are always attentive and learning.

I urge you to devour all of the information on our website... there's literally hundreds of pages of information on conditions, treatments, products and more.

Also,
over the years one of the things we've discovered here at the Healthy
Back Institute is that the mind plays a very BIG role in back pain and
all sorts of diseases and conditions. I'll be sending you some articles
and information on this in the future as it is THE missing link for a
lot of people.

Well, that's all for today. Talk to you again soon...

Jesse

How To Work Some Magic on Your Metabolism

So
many people are talking about how slow their metabolism is and why they
need to start taking the latest diet supplement yet they don’t even
understand how the human metabolism, their own body works.

So before I even go into how to speed yours up, I want to first go over some of the basics.

What is metabolism?

There
are many scientific ways for me to put to you and I could make it seem
really confusing like most of the so-called experts do, but I won’t.
I’m going to give you my extremely simple and easy to understand
definition… metabolism is the rate at which your body burns calories to
sustain life.

I should also note that your body, yes yours, burns calories 24 hours a day, everyday - regardless of whether or not you workout or not.

Remember
that, your body needs energy all the time, even while you’re a sleep
and that is why skipping meals is the absolute worst thing you can do
if your goal is to lose weight (body fat).

Before we go any further let’s talk about what affects metabolism…

What affects metabolism?

What do you think has the biggest impact on your metabolism? Activity levels? Your Thyroid? Age?

WRONG! WRONG! and WRONG!

Activity levels, Thyroid function, and age do affect metabolism but not nearly as much as…any idea?

It’s
muscle tissue! The more muscle you have the more calories you burn
regardless of how active you are, how old you are, etc. It’s live
tissue and it’s there working for you and burning calories 24 hours a
day – each and every day!

Here’s a list of some of the factors affecting metabolism:

muscle tissue (you already know why this is on the top of the list)

meal frequency (the longer you go between meals the more your metabolism slows down to conserve energy)

activity level (important but doesn’t make
any difference if you don’t match your eating to your expenditure)

food choices (ex. low-fat diets tend to result in poor hormone production which leads to a slower metabolism)

hydration
(over 70% of bodily functions take place in water – not enough water
causes all your systems to slow down and unnecessary stress)

genetics (some people have higher metabolisms than others – you cant change genetics but you can still win the battle!)

hormone
production and function (think you have a slow thyroid? it’s not likely
– before you go blame it on the thyroid first stabilize your blood
sugar and throw in some progressive exercise 2-3 times each week)

stress
(stress also can slow metabolism by placing extra stress and strain on
numerous systems. plus, many people tend to overeat when “stressed out”)

Why does it slow down?

How many times have you heard someone say, “as soon as you hit 30 your metabolism slows down”?

Maybe
you’ve said it. I know I hear it all the time and I got tired of
hearing it so I did a little research and found that the metabolism
does NOT slow down significantly due to aging but DOES due to a lack of
muscle. And, you don’t lose muscle quickly due to aging either but due
to a decrease or lack of physical stress.

So, the major cause of a slowing metabolism is three fold…

1. you lose muscle due to the lack of physical stress

2. your body cannibalizes muscle when it needs energy but you won’t supply any because you are “dieting” and skipping meals

3. your activity levels tend to decrease as you get older.

So now we know the problem… what’s the solution?

Address
those 3 issues! I’ve found with years of experience in helping hundreds
of people, that increasing your metabolism and getting rid of that
excess body fat can often times be quite easy!

Yet
you’ll hear of all these experts telling you how hard it is and why you
need to buy their new diet program, supplement, or fitness contraption.

It’s not that hard, it doesn’t have to be confusing, and you don’t
need any of that crap! All you need is an understanding of how your
body works and the willingness to make some small changes.

Here’s my basic formula for jump starting your metabolism:

Step 1 - Stop the storage of new fat

It doesn’t make any sense to start an exercise program if you just
end up adding new fat later that day. This is a problem that is very
common among people who start an exercise in an attempt to lose weight.

See the problem is this…We don’t get fat due to a lack of exercise –
we get fat because we supply the body with more calories than it needs
at a given time.

So
the solution has nothing to do with exercise – it’s all about your
eating! And I’m not saying you have to eat low-fat, super clean and
healthy diet consisting of salad and tofu only. You can still eat the
foods you like IF you can give the body just the amount it needs.

The key is to give the body the energy it needs, but just that
amount not a bunch extra because extra is extra is extra, it doesn’t
matter what it’s from. Salad can be stored as fat, celery can be stored
as fat – if it results in extra it can be stored as fat. I should also
note that not all extra energy is stored in the fat cells and I will
touch on that later.

So forget about trying to burn off any fat unless you can first stop storing new fat! Again, you do that by matching your eating to your activity level.
This means small, balanced meals or snacks every 2-3 hours and the
amount of calories in each feeding should depend on how active you are
at that time of day.

Step 2 – Attack the existing fat

This requires a combination approach consisting of stable blood
sugar/energy levels, and progressive cardiovascular/aerobic exercise
and strength training.

We already talked about how important stable blood sugar and energy
levels are and how to match you eating to your activity level so now
I’d like to cover the exercise part of the equation.

In order for the exercise to even be worth your time you must be
sure it’s progressive. Just because you run on the treadmill for 30
minutes three times a week, that doesn’t mean your body has to burn off
that unwanted body fat!

You
have to force the body makes changes and improvements and the ONLY way
to do that is to consistently provide a stimulus or stress that is
greater than what the body is used to.

Here are some general guidelines on how you can make your exercise progressive and productive:

Strength training

Change exercises frequently (every 2-4 weeks)

Increase resistance

Perform more reps

Slower reps

Advanced techniques

Cardiovascular training

Increase speed/resistance

Perform intervals

Increase distance traveled

Cross train by performing numerous activities

I
should also say that it is extremely important that you have a well
thought out and detailed plan to follow. You can’t just say “ok, now I
know what to do” and then try a little of this here and little of that
there. You need a roadmap.

If
you are serious about achieving your weight loss and fitness goals I
highly recommend you get the help of a professional. Whether that means
one on one personal fitness training or just a do-it-your-self fitness
plan – your chances of success are much greater.

In closing, please remember, it doesn’t have to be confusing.
Hopefully this information has shown you how easy it can be if you know
what you are doing.

Best wishes,

If you have had a back surgery either on your neck or lower
back and have failed to get relief there could be an underlying issue that most
treatments fail to even mention.

Any and every surgery will develop some amount of scar
tissue all be it that new techniques are getting better at minimizing the
amount, its still an issue that you are most likely dealing with right now and most
likely nothing you have tried has helped…

Here it is short and sweet, Scar tissue and Fibrous
Adhesions are a dirty little secret and a contributing factor of post surgical
pain. And if left untreated could take years to diminish.

Scar tissue needs to be what is called released or
Myofascially manipulated and there are many different techniques that work
great for this and most good and well trained massage therapist can do and
excellent job of it but there is one more component to getting relief and that
is the absorption of the excessive scar tissue from a cellular level.

As we get older, the more stress we are under and the less
fruits and vegetables we eat the less enzymes our bodies will get and produce
on a daily basis allowing for the over development of excess scar tissue.

And that is why it is critical that anyone who has had any
type of surgery should eat 5 to 7 servings or fruits and vegetables a day and
supplement with enzymes.

by Darlene Nicholson, CFT

1. Pilates is intended for women. WRONG!

Though
it is quite popular amongst women, many males also practice Pilates.
Even professional athletes have used Pilates to achieve results that
other types of exercise have failed to deliver.

In
fact, Pilates was developed by man named Joseph Pilates who was an
athlete and a boxer. Baseball pitcher Curt Shilling, Golfer - Tiger
Woods, and Basketball Player Jason Kidd all incorporate Pilates into
their workouts.

2. Pilates is for people that are already in shape! WRONG!

In
fact people that are overweight or out of shape should definitely start
with Pilates. They will be able to strengthen their core muscle groups
and stretch muscles to prevent injury when they do begin a strength
training and cardiovascular workout.

3. Pilates has to be performed with equipment. WRONG AGAIN!

Some
Pilates methods do involve pieces of equipment, however you can also do
authentic Pilates workouts from the comfort of your home with only a
simple floor mat. The advantage of starting with mat Pilates is that
you can focus on improving your Pilates technique without having to
worry about the complexity of equipment... plus it can be done anywhere!

4. Pilates is just like Yoga. Myth!

Pilates
does involve learning to breathe properly and using controlled
movements to improve the body. Yoga dwells deeper on harmonizing the
mind, body and spirit where as Pilates is a better choice for those
whom are looking for a longer, leaner, dancer-like body.

5. Pilates is not challenging. WRONG!

Like
anything, the effort you put in will reflect the results you achieve.
You can do the exercises at a beginner level if you need to or you can
do advanced variations and exercises that will kick your butt!

There
plenty of other myths and misconceptions about Pilates out there. You
have likely heard one or more of them already, we suggest you try it
for your self and come to your own conclusions.

Ok, now time for my "uncensored" opinion of pilates...

First of all, let me start by saying any exercise is better than none.

Second,
one of the things I really like about pilates is that it builds
strength and improves flexibility at the same time and most
importantly, it does it without the damage and wear and tear that
traditional weight lifting causes.

Another
thing I like about pilates is that you can do it anywhere so you have
no excuses whereas if you rely on dozens of machines to workout, it's
easy to have things "come up" and get in the way.

Is
pilates the only exercise you need to do, maybe, but maybe not... it
all depends on what your goals are. But I can say that everyone can
benefit from adding some pilates into their fitness program, even if
it's only done once in a while.

If
you've never tried pilates, I really recommend you give it a shot. For
years I resisted it because I thought it was going to be "too easy" and
"boring"... boy was I wrong. Grab a FREE copy of our Pilates Made Easy video on DVD and see for yourself.

Just
pay a small shipping and handling fee and we'll have a copy shipped out
to you right away. But I can't say how long this will be available as
at last check we had just 378 copies left.

Well, that's all for today. Once you get the video and have a chance to try it out be sure to send me your feedback.

One of the questions I get all the time from back pain sufferers is
"What can I do at work to better manage my pain?".

So I've created a short video to share some proven "tricks" that you
can use to reduce and better manage pain while at work.

You can watch it now here

Also, it's important to note that many of these tricks will work for
you anywhere, not just at work. So if you don't work, you still should
find this video helpful.

You can find even more info on "how to beat back pain at work" in
an article we recently added to the website here.

When I first sent out the above article we received a TON of great
feedback so if you haven't read it yet, I'm sure you'll find it and the
video to be a great combination.

And here's a comment from one of our customers that I just had to
share with you...

"Stronger Than a Double Dose of Celebreks"

"I've been taking a double dose of celebreks for 10 years now and that
only gave me partial relief. Finally, my fear of liver damage pushed me
to try your Lifezyme Plus product. It worked better and I was able to stop
taking the celebreks completely. Thank you so much!"

A few days ago I sent an email out about inversion therapy and we have been
getting tons of questions so I thought I'd answer some of the most common ones...

QUESTION #1 - Does inversion therapy help if you have neck pain?

Great question... yes, it can help if you are dealing with neck pain. With inversion,
everything from the ankle all the way up through the neck and head gets stretched
and pressure relieved.

Now, it's important to point out that while you do get the benefits for the neck when
using an inversion table, there are other decompression devices out there that work
well but do not address the neck.

QUESTION #2 - I've had a hip replacement, can I do inversion?

That all depends... if you have had a "total hip replacement" it's NOT recommended.
Same is true for a total knee replacement. In these situations you would want to use
an alternative like the "Back Bubble" (see next question below).

If you have had a partial hip replacement you should check with your doctor but we
have had many doctors say it's ok.

QUESTION #3 - Are there other devices other than an inversion table that do
the same thing?

Another great question... yes, there are many devices out there but only a handful
that really work well. One of the best alternatives we've found to an inversion table
is a product called "The Back Bubble" and you can learn more about it here.

You can also look into traction which would be performed by a qualified doctor
or therapist. And another method that is being pushed by a lot of chiropractors
is the DRX9000. You can read more about it and other forms of decompression here.

And last, here are some more emails we've received from people who have
used inversion therapy:
Hi Jesse,

I have joined this email 'club' over a year ago. You have sent me many different
ways of easing the pain of sciatica. Well, let me tell you what WORKED fFOR ME!
About 20 months ago I purchased an inversion table so I can hang up-side-down
by my feet. That is the ONLY way I healed my back pain, yes, rest, away from the
weight room and other things help my sciatica back pain to heal. But let me assure
you, massage therapy, La Kota (spelling????) or any other rub does NOT come
close to the healing effects of an inversion table. Try one.....buy one....you too will
be HEALED ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!!!! Of course a person should check with a
doctor whether this table is appropriate for you so you don't harm your self. I hang
up-side-down in the morning , two sets of about 30 seconds each, sometime I hang,
one set of 30 seconds at around 5:00 pm and finally, once before bed time (30 sec).
So for about 2 minutes a day I stretch out my back and feel absolutely WONDERFUL!

TALK TO YOU AGAIN SOME TIME,
Subject: Re: 54 Year Old Nurse Shares Her Secrets For Sciatica Relief
To: jesse@gethealthyandfit.com

Hi Jesse,
Over the past year I have become a fan of you and what you're doing on your
website. I was 33 yrs old when my son was born. When he was 3 months old I
got out of a rocking chair and "tweaked" the wrong way and ended up spending
2 weeks flat on the floor unable to move icing nonstop (luckily I have family
around). I was in soo much pain, I'd wake up in tears..not that I slept with a new
born in the house.

Completely exhausted, I had an MRI that reported I had herniated my L5-S1
disc area. That started my journey into researching how to take care of my back
and how to get those core muscles some strength after pregnancy.

3 unsuccessful cortizone injections later, hours of physical therapy, meds etc.
nothing worked. I used to be a marathon runner and lead a very active lifestyle.
I was determined to get back to enjoying my family and life!

Then one night in my quest I came across your website and the inversion table.
I ordered your books, dvd's and an inversion table. It changed my life! I'm hooked
and have been pain free for over 10 months now. I'm doing pilates, run in the
water, "hang like a bat" on the table as my husband calls it, and chase my toddler
around all day without any pain.

Gratefully,
Kate Berman, 34 & fit mama of an active 22 month old.

---------- end Kate's email ------------

That's awesome!

I've said it so many times before, but it deserves repeating here again now...

Most people get the best results when they COMBINE multiple treatments and
remedies together.

Here's the combination that we have found to work the best for the largest
number of people:

1. Identify and address muscle imbalances, which are almost always the
underlying cause, by using the Lose The Back Pain system

2. Reduce pain and inflammation with safe and natural ingredients like the
ones found in Lifezyme Plus

3. Decompress the spine with some form of traction or inversion therapy

4. Address trigger points - with help from a trigger point specialist or can be
done at home using our trigger point self treatment system

5. Improve your mental / emotional state and wipe out negative stress and
there are many ways to accomplish this. A few products we recommend
are the Stress Less video and Mind Body Pain Relief

Well, I hope you find the video about inversion therapy informative and keep
your eyes peeled as I have several more videos I'll be sending you over the
next few weeks.

In fact, I have one about sciatica where I'll show you one of THE most effective
stretches for sciatica... plus an other video showing you many little things you
can do to reduce or better manage pain while at work.

So, that's all for now... talk to you again soon.
